In his latest studio album I Am Music, released on March 14, 2025, Playboi Carti has included a collaboration track with Kendrick Lamar titled “Mojo Jojo.”
The title of the track refers to a popular character from the Powerpuff Girls cartoon series, a mad scientist and villain known for his desire to take over the world.
Mojo Jojo is an iconic antagonist in the animated series that debuted in 1998 on Cartoon Network. The character, known for his distinct voice and eccentric behavior, is a recurring villain in the show, always plotting to defeat the Powerpuff Girls.
In the song, Lamar and Carti rap about their experiences, and the line “I’m smashin’ on all the h*es, Mojo Jojo” seems to refer directly to this notorious villain.
Though the song’s lyrics don’t explicitly confirm the reference to the Powerpuff Girls character, the name “Mojo Jojo” aligns strongly with the villain’s persona, leading fans to speculate that Carti is indeed referencing the classic cartoon antagonist.
The track “Mojo Jojo” is part of Carti’s much-anticipated album, which also features two other collaborations with Kendrick Lamar—Backdoor and Good Credit. Fans had been eagerly awaiting the album after a five-year gap since Carti’s previous release, Whole Lotta Red in 2020.
Despite the delays and mixed reviews, I Am Music marks a significant release for Carti, with its 30 songs and collaborations with several high-profile artists, including Lil Uzi Vert, Future, and Travis Scott.
The album’s critical reception remains varied, but the inclusion of Kendrick Lamar in three tracks has certainly generated excitement among listeners.
