What If…? Teases Big Marvel Connection Between Fantastic Four and X-Men

Marvel’s What If…? Season 2 recently ended with an exciting new variant: Silver Surfer Jubilee.

This intriguing character was part of a lineup featuring unique mashups like a six-armed Spider-Man, Samurai Ghost Rider, and Wolverine Thanos.

While What If…? largely remains self-contained, its exploration of multiversal themes could hint at larger MCU developments.

With a version of the Silver Surfer (Shalla-Bal) confirmed for Fantastic Four: First Steps and an upcoming X-Men film in the works, fans are speculating that Silver Surfer Jubilee could be setting up an exciting connection between the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

While What If…? has yet to influence the wider MCU directly, it’s possible that these variants are laying the groundwork for future crossovers.

Marvel Studios has already shown how it can subtly introduce characters before their big-screen debuts, such as Evan Peters’ Quicksilver in WandaVision and the inclusion of Wolverine’s Madripoor in Falcon & the Winter Soldier.

Silver Surfer Jubilee might be another way to introduce key players for future MCU films, particularly as the Multiverse Saga moves toward Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

As the MCU continues to expand, these variant characters could play a role in bridging the gap between the X-Men and Fantastic Four, setting the stage for their eventual integration into the MCU.
