Blackpink star Lisa is stepping into a new spotlight—not as a performer on stage, but as an actress in HBO’s ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3.
Making her debut as Mook, a health-guru at a luxury Thailand resort, Lisa (credited as Lalisa Manoban) is excited to bring a new persona to life just weeks before the release of her highly anticipated solo album, ‘Alter Ego’.
Lisa’s Acting Debut: From K-Pop to Hollywood
Lisa has long been a global icon in music, but acting is an entirely new experience for her. In an interview with Variety, she admitted that she was nervous on her first day of shooting, struggling to remember her lines.
However, she quickly found her rhythm, even helping co-star Tayme Thapthimthong, who plays Gaitok, perfect his Thai dialogue to sound more authentic.
“She’s just like me, but flirtier and lady-like,” Lisa said of Mook. “I’m more of a tomboy in real life.” Despite being new to acting, Lisa found strong support from the cast and crew, saying, “They were always encouraging me, telling me, ‘You’re doing great, Lisa.’”
How Lisa Brought Mook to Life
Lisa revealed that she took acting lessons to prepare for the role. However, she felt that Mook came naturally to her, making the transition from music to acting smoother. She also appreciated the freedom given by director Mike White, saying, “He just let us do whatever we felt like giving.”
Lisa enjoyed the camaraderie on set, with cast members bonding over dinners, drinks, and karaoke nights. But despite her stage presence, Lisa confessed, “I’m shy when it comes to karaoke. I’ll be in the back!”
What’s Next for Lisa?
With her acting debut behind her, Lisa is looking ahead to her solo album ‘Alter Ego’, where she continues to explore different personas. She also expressed interest in continuing acting, saying, “I’d love to do an action film—as a dancer and performer, I think I could handle the routines.”
As for Blackpink? “We just announced our tour—it’s happening this year,” Lisa confirmed, keeping fans eager for what’s next. With ‘The White Lotus’ premiering on HBO and Max on February 16, Lisa’s transformation into Mook is just beginning.
