Gracie Abrams Calls Fan Petition Against Dora Jar ‘Wildly Uncool’

Gracie Abrams has responded to a fan petition calling for the replacement of her tour opener, Dora Jar, labeling the move “so wildly uncool and bizarre.”

The petition, created after Jar’s announcement as the opening act for Abrams’ European and U.K. tour dates, criticized Jar’s music as “slow-paced” and unsuitable for setting the mood. It suggested a more energetic artist be chosen instead. The petition, which appeared on Change.org, has since been deleted.

Abrams addressed the controversy in a comment on Instagram, expressing her full support for Jar. “I couldn’t be luckier or prouder to share a stage with this talented wonder,” Abrams wrote, urging fans to stream Jar’s music. She reiterated her stance on Instagram Stories, calling Jar a “gem of an artist.”

Dora Jar, whose debut album No Way to Relax When You Are on Fire was released in 2024, took the backlash in stride. On X, she joked about signing the petition herself and expressed excitement about performing for Abrams’ fans.

She acknowledged the mix of love and hate that comes with the spotlight, stating, “Gracie has beautiful open-hearted fans, and I am so excited for this.”

Jar will join Abrams starting February 8 in Madrid, Spain, with performances across Europe and the U.K. The tour concludes on March 12 in Glasgow, Scotland. Despite the controversy, both artists remain focused on delivering a memorable experience for fans.
