Musk recently announced that he would step down from his position as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—a role that, while unofficial, saw him act as a special advisor on cutting federal spending. His tenure was marked by contract cancellations, mass layoffs, and widespread backlash.
Taking to social media after Musk’s resignation, Mary Trump didn’t hold back her opinion of the billionaire tech mogul. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), she wrote:
“In the spirit of the new Twitter algorithm which is promoting positive content, I’m positive Elon Musk is a f**ing asshole.”*
Her blunt remark quickly went viral, amassing thousands of likes and replies, many echoing her sentiments.
“I’m positive you’re right,” one user replied.
“I support you in your positivity,” said another.
Mary, a clinical psychologist and author, has long been a vocal critic of both her uncle and powerful public figures like Musk. Her 2020 book Too Much and Never Enough exposed dysfunction within the Trump family and sold nearly a million copies on release day.
Musk, who had donated $288 million to Donald Trump’s campaign, was seen as a key figure in the president’s post-election efforts to “streamline” federal operations. But his efforts led to boycotts, protests, and Tesla showroom vandalism, and now he’s officially stepped away—though he claimed the DOGE initiative would continue to grow.
