Warner Bros. is celebrating a major weekend at the box office as two of its biggest 2025 releases—Sinners and A Minecraft Movie—cross impressive milestones.

Sinners, the supernatural thriller from director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan, has officially surpassed $200 million domestically. After ending Friday at $199.8 million, the film is expected to cross the benchmark by Saturday.

In its fourth weekend, the R-rated genre-bender continues to attract audiences thanks to strong word-of-mouth and critical acclaim. Jordan plays dual roles as twin brothers in 1930s Jim Crow-era South, where they confront a mysterious evil linked to a juke joint they’ve purchased.

Despite early doubts about its commercial prospects, the $80 million film has become a breakout success, performing well across Black, Latino, and white audiences. It’s another major win for Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, who’ve supported bold auteur projects amid industry skepticism.

Meanwhile, A Minecraft Movie has now dug up more than $900 million at the global box office, making it the top-grossing video game adaptation of the year so far, and the second-highest ever—behind only

The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($1.33 billion). The film, co-financed by Legendary and produced by Vertigo’s Chris Lee, is fast approaching the $1 billion milestone and has firmly launched a new franchise.

Marvel Studios also enjoyed a strong weekend with Thunderbolts*, which is showing one of the smallest second-weekend drops in MCU history. The ensemble film led by Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan is expected to earn over $35 million in its second frame, with global earnings climbing past $200 million.

As it stands, Minecraft leads the 2025 global box office, followed by Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World ($416 million) and Sinners ($250.8 million). Updated figures and final weekend tallies will be released Sunday morning.
