Liam Neeson’s 2022 action thriller Blacklight is now a global hit on Netflix, two years after its release.

The movie, which was widely regarded as one of Neeson’s worst, has ranked fifth on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list this week, with over 7.6 million views and 13.3 million hours watched.

Blacklight follows Neeson as a government operative who uncovers a dangerous plot against the U.S. It was directed by Mark Williams, who also co-created Ozark.

Despite its weak reception when it first hit theaters, the film has found a new life on Netflix, ranking in the top 10 in 21 countries across South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean.

    A Poor Start for Blacklight

When Blacklight was released in 2022, it was a box office disappointment, grossing only $16 million worldwide against its $43 million budget.

Critics were harsh, giving it a 12% score on Rotten Tomatoes, calling it a dull and formulaic thriller. Many even labeled it one of Neeson’s worst movies.

However, the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes tells a different story, with an 82% approval rating. It seems that viewers who enjoy conspiracy thrillers starring Neeson are giving the movie a chance.

    Why Watch Blacklight on Netflix?

Although Blacklight didn’t do well in theaters, it has found an audience on Netflix. If you enjoy action-packed thrillers with a conspiracy twist, this movie might be worth a watch.

Even though it may not be Neeson’s best work, it still offers a thrilling ride for fans of the genre.
