After Poor Box Office, The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow With Jenna Ortega Heads to Digital

After struggling in theaters, Jenna Ortega and The Weeknd’s psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow will release on digital streaming platforms starting June 6, Lionsgate confirmed.

Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the film failed to impress at the box office, earning only $5.9 million worldwide on a $15 million budget. Critics were not kind either, giving it a 14% score on Rotten Tomatoes, one of the lowest for any major 2025 release.

Despite the poor reviews, Hurry Up Tomorrow still found a small but loyal audience. It currently holds a 64% audience score, suggesting some viewers appreciated its story and music.

The film stars The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) as a famous singer pushed by his manager, played by Barry Keoghan, to keep performing despite health issues.

His life takes a strange turn when he meets a mysterious woman, played by Jenna Ortega. The movie explores emotional struggle and isolation, set to an original soundtrack by The Weeknd.

Hurry Up Tomorrow marks The Weeknd’s second acting role after HBO’s The Idol, which also faced criticism and low ratings. Speaking about The Idol, he said there were “too many cooks in the kitchen,” but praised Hurry Up Tomorrow for having a clearer creative direction.

The film will be available to rent or buy on premium digital platforms starting June 6, 2025.
