What GTA 6 Needs to Do Better Than GTA 5

    GTA 6 Trailer 2

When it launches, Grand Theft Auto 6 will be one of the biggest game releases in years. Fans have waited since 2013 for a new GTA game.

While Rockstar supported GTA Online and released Red Dead Redemption 2, expectations for GTA 6 are very high. Here are five ways GTA 6 should improve on GTA 5.

    1) More Interior Buildings
GTA games create lively cities, but players can enter very few buildings. GTA 5 had gas stations and mission interiors, but GTA 6 should add many more enterable buildings. This would improve immersion and open new gameplay opportunities, like bigger heists and robberies.

    2) Give Characters More In-Depth Abilities
In GTA 5, each protagonist had one special ability: Franklin could slow driving time, Michael in shootouts, and Trevor had near invincibility. This was interesting, but GTA 6 should go further. A skill tree or customizable abilities would make characters feel more unique and offer more gameplay variety.

    3) Create a Memorable Villain
GTA has a history of strong villains like Officer Tenpenny (San Andreas) and Lance Vance (Vice City). However, GTA 5’s villains Devin Weston and Steve Haines were less memorable. GTA 6 needs a compelling and charismatic villain to make the story more engaging, especially if it returns to Vice City.

    4) Improve the Police System
Police in GTA 5 reacted immediately and lacked realism. In GTA 6, police should respond more realistically—minor crimes get a slow response, major crimes trigger aggressive pursuit. Better police AI would increase immersion and make free-roam more exciting.

    5) Expanded Mission Design
Many missions in GTA games feel linear and limit player choice. GTA 6 should bring more freedom into missions by offering multiple ways to complete objectives—such as stealth, talking, or combat—reflecting the open world freedom. This would also tie into character abilities and player decisions.

GTA 6 has a chance to build on GTA 5’s foundation and bring fresh ideas to the series. Fans are eager to see how Rockstar delivers this next chapter.
