The One Rule Dave Franco & Alison Brie Follow When Working Together

Dave Franco and Alison Brie attended the premiere of their new movie Together at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, on January 26. The married couple, who also star in the film, were joined by writer and director Michael Shanks for the event.

In a recent interview, Dave and Alison shared what it’s like working together on set. They revealed one important rule they follow while filming: they never give each other notes.

“We’re never giving each other notes because… it’s just like ew, I can tell that was false and I know Dave knows,” Alison explained. Dave added, “We work really well together. When we’re acting together, we’re so comfortable with each other and we can take more risks with the material.”

This isn’t their first time collaborating. In fact, Together is their fifth project together, following Somebody That I Used to Know, The Rental, The Disaster Artist, and The Little Hours.

“We don’t want to burn people out on us,” Dave said about working apart. “It’s nice to go off and then get excited again about working together.” Alison agreed, adding that it’s also fun to watch Dave’s work when they’re not working together.

The couple believes working with others and maintaining independence is important for their personal growth and for keeping their collaborations fresh.
