Fans of The Batman will have to wait a bit longer for the sequel. The Batman 2, officially titled The Batman Part II, is now expected to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. The movie was originally planned for a 2026 release, but production delays have pushed it back.
According to a new report from Nexus Point News, filming for The Batman 2 won’t begin until early 2026 at the earliest. This update comes after actor Robert Pattinson previously said that filming would start in late 2025.
One reason for the delay is Pattinson’s busy schedule. He will appear in Dune 3, directed by Denis Villeneuve, which is expected to start filming this summer and continue through the end of the year. It’s not yet known how big his role is in that film.
Pattinson is also working on several other projects. He’s currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and has roles in Die, My Love, Primetime, and more. He is also producing a remake of Possession, though it’s unclear if he will act in it.
If The Batman 2 begins filming in early 2026, it could still be ready in time for its planned release. But if production is delayed further, the movie might be pushed back again. So far, Warner Bros. has not made any official statement on this.
The Batman and its spin-off series The Penguin are both available to stream on Max.
