Pop star Taylor Swift has announced she is engaged to American football player Travis Kelce.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the singer shared photos of Kelce proposing, with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Images showed the pair embracing, holding hands, and revealing Swift’s diamond engagement ring.
The announcement quickly drew worldwide attention, with the post gaining more than 18 million likes within four hours. Celebrities including Avril Lavigne and Cara Delevingne offered congratulations, while Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, wrote on X: “Today is a fairy tale.”
US President Donald Trump also reacted, wishing the couple “a lot of luck” and calling both Swift and Kelce “terrific people.”
The ring, understood to be an old mine brilliant cut, was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery. Swift also shared a clip on Instagram Stories featuring her song So High School—a track believed to be about Kelce—playing in the background.
Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023 after the NFL star spoke about her on his podcast, New Heights. In a recent interview on the show, Swift said Kelce had used the podcast as his “personal dating app” to get her attention.
The couple’s relationship has since become a regular subject of public interest, with Kelce attending Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour and even appearing on stage during a London show in June.
