Warner Bros.’ period horror film Sinners had an impressive Monday performance, earning $7.8 million, marking the second-best Monday ever for an R-rated horror movie.

The only film to outperform Sinners on a Monday in this category is 2017’s It, which earned $8.76 million. Sinners also ranks as the third-best Monday overall for a horror film, following A Quiet Place Part II, which grossed $9.5 million during Memorial Day.

The film outperformed World War Z’s Monday, which made $7.6 million, and even surpassed Warner Bros.’ own Beetlejuice’s first Monday, which grossed $6.2 million after a $111 million opening.

As of now, Sinners has earned a cumulative total of $55.8 million in the U.S., with a global take of $75.5 million.

In addition to its strong Monday numbers, Sinners saw a 31% boost in business on Tuesday, rising to $11.4 million. This follows the typical pattern of increased viewership on discount Tuesdays, with other films like Us and Get Out also showing similar gains in their first weeks.

The film’s strong performance is being driven by premium formats, such as IMAX and PLF (Premium Large Formats), which make up around 45% of its $48 million opening weekend gross.

Notably, Sinners was shot using IMAX cameras, a feature that has drawn significant attention from audiences seeking the best possible viewing experience. The film earned $9.11 million from IMAX screens alone last weekend.
