The White House released a video directly targeting Selena Gomez after the singer and actress shared an emotional Instagram post about the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
Gomez, a longtime advocate for undocumented immigrants, expressed sadness and frustration over recent mass deportations.
In a now-deleted Instagram video, Gomez tearfully criticized the government’s aggressive immigration crackdown, saying:
“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t.”
Gomez has been outspoken about immigration issues in the past, even producing the 2019 Netflix documentary Living Undocumented, which highlighted the struggles of families facing deportation.
The Trump administration responded by releasing a video on Twitter/X, featuring mothers of three people killed by undocumented immigrants. The video suggested that Gomez was misleading the public, with one mother stating:
“Seeing that video, it’s hard to believe that it’s actually genuine and real because she’s an actress.”
Another added:
“I just feel like it’s a ruse to deceive people and to garner sympathy for lawlessness.”
The video, posted on Elon Musk’s social media platform, quickly gained traction, amassing over 5.7 million views.
The White House’s direct attack on Gomez has sparked strong reactions online. Supporters argue that targeting a celebrity for speaking out is inappropriate, while others defend the administration’s stance on immigration.
Gomez has not yet responded to the White House video. However, her advocacy for immigrants remains a major part of her public platform, and this latest controversy is unlikely to silence her voice.
