The trailer for the upcoming K-drama Newtopia has generated significant buzz, but not all of it is positive, especially regarding BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s acting.

While Jisoo’s fans have praised her performance, the reaction from K-drama fans has been far less kind.

In Newtopia, Jisoo plays Yeong Ju, a woman navigating a difficult relationship amid a zombie apocalypse.

Despite her star power, many viewers have criticized her acting, with some questioning whether she was suited for the role.

Issues with her pronunciation, vocal tone, and overall delivery have been raised, with some even labeling her as “just a pretty face.”

This isn’t the first time Jisoo has faced criticism for her acting. Her role in Snowdrop also sparked debate, with some fans pointing to her as the weakest member of BLACKPINK when it comes to singing and dancing skills.

The drama, set against the backdrop of a zombie outbreak in a high-rise unit in Seoul, follows Jae Yun, a soldier dealing with a breakup, and Yeong Ju, his girlfriend who becomes caught in the chaos.

As the series unfolds, Jae Yun transforms from an insecure character to a confident leader, while Yeong Ju discovers her inner strength.

Newtopia is set to premiere on February 7, 2025, with new episodes airing every Friday for eight weeks.

Jisoo’s acting career has been on the rise since her debut in The Producers in 2015, and her leading role in Snowdrop in 2021-2022.

In addition to Newtopia, she will also appear in the upcoming film Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.
