‘Moana 2’ Dominates U.K. and Ireland Box Office, ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ Set to Arrive

Disney’s Moana 2 continues to reign at the U.K. and Ireland box office, holding the top spot for the third consecutive weekend. The animated sequel earned £3.6 million ($4.5 million), bringing its cumulative total to £26.4 million ($33.5 million), according to Comscore data.

The film’s success has been impressive, especially as the holiday season approaches, with Moana 2 showing strong staying power despite competition from other major releases.

‘Wicked’ and ‘Gladiator II’ Hold Strong in Second and Third Places

In second place, Universal’s Wicked continues to perform well, adding £3.4 million in its fourth week. The musical now boasts a solid £43.6 million total. Meanwhile, Paramount’s Gladiator II rounded out the top three, bringing in £918,256 this week, pushing its five-week total to £28.4 million.

‘Kraven the Hunter’ and ‘Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’ Debut

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter made its debut in fifth place, earning £686,806, while Warner Bros.’ Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim opened in seventh with £483,583. Both films are expected to continue performing well as they gain traction in the coming weeks.

‘Paddington in Peru’ and Other Performers

Studiocanal’s Paddington in Peru held steady in fourth place with £821,657, reaching a total of £30.2 million over six weeks. Other notable performers include Black Bear’s Conclave, which has earned £4 million in total, and Mubi’s Queer, which debuted in eighth with £293,040.

Looking Ahead: ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ and More Releases

As the year winds down, attention is shifting to the upcoming release of Mufasa: The Lion King, which is expected to dominate the box office when it arrives this Friday. The pre-holiday period will also see the release of Netflix’s Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, as well as the animated feature Dolphin Boy from Miracle/Dazzler.

Indian Releases and Other Highlights

Indian cinema fans can look forward to the release of Vanvaas, a Hindi-language action drama starring Nana Patekar and Utkarsh Sharma, as well as Marco, a Malayalam-language action film that is a spinoff of 2019’s Mikhael. Both films will be released this Friday.
