Max Verstappen Reveals He Lives in the Same Monaco Building as Charles Leclerc

Max Verstappen has revealed a surprising detail about his life away from Formula 1. The four-time world champion confirmed that he lives in the same Monaco apartment building as long-time rival Charles Leclerc.

Verstappen shared the news during a Team Redline 24-hour sim racing livestream on January 18, 2026. He explained that both drivers live in the same luxury complex but in different wings of the building.

The setup has led to regular casual meetings. Verstappen joked that he sometimes runs into Leclerc in the elevator or shared areas, despite their intense battles on the race track.

The building is also home to other F1 stars. Leclerc has previously said that Fernando Alonso owns a residence in the same complex, adding to its reputation as an unofficial Formula 1 hub.

Living close to rivals is common in Monaco. Drivers like Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz are also reported to live near each other in the principality.

Monaco remains a popular base for F1 drivers for practical reasons. The country has no personal income tax, which offers huge financial benefits to top earners.

The principality is also known for strong security and strict privacy laws. This allows drivers to live more freely than in many major cities.

As the 2026 season approaches, fans find irony in the situation. Two drivers expected to fight for the title are not just rivals, but neighbors sharing the same roof.
