Kendrick Lamar’s Iconic Compton Artwork Vandalized for the Second Time

Kendrick Lamar, "squabble up"

Kendrick Lamar’s mural in Compton has been vandalized for the second time in just a few months.

A video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) shows the damage, reigniting discussions about the recurring defacement of the West Coast legend’s artwork.

The first incident happened in September, shortly after Lamar was announced as a Super Bowl Halftime Show performer.

A vandal spray-painted “OVIO” and crossed out the eyes on all three faces depicted in the mural. This act occurred only two months after the mural’s debut in Lamar’s hometown.

The incident may have inspired the opening lines of “wacced out murals” from Lamar’s GNX project:
“Yesterday, somebody whacked out my mural / That energy’ll make you n**s move to Europe / But it’s regular for me, yeah, that’s for sure.”

Given this latest act of vandalism, fans are speculating whether Lamar will address it in future projects.

For now, the repeated targeting of his mural reflects the complex mix of love and hate the rapper continues to face in his own community.
