Apple TV+ has announced that its new thriller series “The Savant” will premiere on September 26, releasing the first images from the upcoming show starring Jessica Chastain.
The eight-episode series will debut with two episodes worldwide, followed by weekly releases every Friday until November 7. Chastain stars as an undercover investigator and mother who infiltrates online hate groups to identify and prevent domestic extremists before they can carry out attacks.
“The Savant” is based on true events, adapted from Andrea Stanley’s 2019 Cosmopolitan article “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?” The newly released images show Chastain’s character working at a computer and attending what appears to be a formal event with co-star Nnamdi Asomugha.
Chastain also serves as executive producer alongside Kelly Carmichael, Alan Poul, Melissa James Gibson, Matthew Heineman, David Levine and Garrett Kemble. Matthew Heineman will direct all episodes of the series.
The cast includes Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley and Toussaint Francois Battiste, with Pablo Schreiber making a guest appearance.
The series was developed by Fifth Season in partnership with Freckle Films and Anonymous Content before being picked up by Apple TV+. It marks another addition to Apple’s growing catalogue of original thriller content.
