Jenna Ortega is back as Wednesday Addams in the first teaser trailer for season 2 of Wednesday. Netflix released the trailer on April 23, giving fans a glimpse into what’s coming this summer.

The teaser opens with Wednesday going through airport security. She pulls out several hidden weapons — brass knuckles, a machete, a taser — only to get stopped for a bottle of sun tan lotion. The lotion was packed by Thing, her loyal sidekick.

Wednesday then rides to Nevermore Academy with her parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams. Morticia points out that this is the first time Wednesday has ever wanted to return to school. Wednesday replies, “It feels like returning to the scene of the crime — I already know where the bodies are buried.”

Season 2 continues the story of Wednesday, a teen with a sharp mind and darker outlook. She is learning to control her psychic visions, which reveal hidden secrets. In the trailer, she says, “Wherever there’s murder and mayhem, you’ll always find an Addams.”

Morticia warns that family secrets can be dangerous. But Wednesday is calm and confident. “You don’t need to worry about me, Mother,” she says. “I do my best work in the dark.”

Season 2 promises new mysteries and more trouble at Nevermore. Alongside Ortega, the cast includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley, Christopher Lloyd, and others. Some characters from season 1 will not return, including Percy Hynes White and Naomi J. Ogawa.

Part one of Wednesday season 2 premieres on Netflix August 6. Part two follows on September 3.
