How to FaceTime Between iPhone and Android

With Apple’s recent updates, it’s now possible for iPhone users to FaceTime with Android users through a shared link.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to do this.

Step 1: Update Your iPhone

  1. Check for Updates:
    • Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
    • Ensure your iPhone is running iOS 15 or later.

Step 2: Create a FaceTime Link

  1. Open the FaceTime App:
    • Find and tap on the FaceTime app on your iPhone.
  2. Create a Link:
    • Tap on the “Create Link” button. This generates a unique link for your call.
  3. Name Your Link (Optional):
    • You can add a name to the link for easier identification by tapping on “Add Name”.

Step 3: Share the Link with Android Users

  1. Choose a Sharing Method:
    • Select how you want to share the link (e.g., via Messages, WhatsApp, Email).
  2. Send the Link:
    • Choose the contact you want to invite and send the link.

Step 4: Joining the Call as an Android User

  1. Receive the Link:
    • The Android user will receive the FaceTime link via the chosen method.
  2. Open the Link:
    • The recipient should click on the link, which will open in their default web browser (preferably Chrome or Edge).
  3. Grant Permissions:
    • Allow access to the camera and microphone when prompted.
  4. Enter Name and Join:
    • Enter a name when prompted, then tap on “Continue” and select “Join”.

Step 5: Accepting the Call as an iPhone User

  1. Check for Entry Requests:
    • After sharing the link, keep an eye on your FaceTime app for any requests from the Android user.
  2. Accept the Request:
    • When you see that someone is waiting to join, tap the green checkmark to accept them into the call.

Step 6: Enjoy Your Call

  • Once both users are connected, you can start your FaceTime call.
  • Note that while iPhone users can use all features like Memoji stickers and filters, Android users will have a more basic experience without these extras.

Important Notes

  • Android users cannot initiate FaceTime calls; they can only join calls initiated by iPhone users.
  • Ensure both parties have a stable internet connection for optimal call quality.
  • After finishing, either party can simply hang up as usual.

This process allows for seamless communication between iPhone and Android users, bridging a long-standing gap in video calling capabilities.
