‘Hitman 2’ Takes the Top Spot at Lunar New Year Box Office

Hitman 2 topped the box office during the Lunar New Year holiday. The movie, starring Kwon Sang-woo, has been a big hit since it was released on January 22.

It earned 177,133 tickets on Saturday and stayed at number one for six days in a row. The total admissions reached 1.83 million, beating Dark Nuns, which had 1.36 million admissions.

The movie is a sequel to Hitman from 2020. It follows Jun (Kwon), a former secret agent who becomes a cartoonist. He is framed for a terrorist attack, and the National Intelligence Service suspects him. The film mixes action and comedy as Jun tries to clear his name.

Kwon’s hard work to promote the movie has also helped its success. Before the release, he made headlines by kneeling at a fan event and saying he wanted to beat other films like Dark Nuns. He also engaged with fans and critics on social media, which got a lot of attention.

Hitman 2 is family-friendly and perfect for the holiday season. The movie’s release during the holiday when many people have time off school and work also helped it do well.

Kwon, 48, has said he wants to keep making action films like his idol Jackie Chan. Fans are excited to see if Hitman 3 will be made.
