Rockstar Games has delayed Grand Theft Auto VI to May 2026, and surprisingly, many gamers don’t mind.
With so many big games already out or coming in 2025, players are calling this delay a blessing in disguise.
This year alone has seen the release of Blue Prince, Split Fiction, Avowed, Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Civilization VII.
And the year isn’t even over yet. More games like Elden Ring: Nightreign, Mario Kart World, Borderlands 4, and MGS Delta: Snake Eater are still on the way.
With this much content, it’s already impossible for most players to keep up. Between limited time and tight budgets, adding GTA 6 into the mix would only make things more overwhelming. The delay gives gamers a break and spreads out the hype.
It also gives other developers room to release their games without getting buried under the massive spotlight GTA 6 will bring.
Rockstar now has time to polish the game and avoid overworking its team. The new release date also helps publishers plan their launches around the big title.
So while some fans were disappointed by the delay, many are taking it as a win. GTA 6 in 2026 means more time to enjoy what’s already been a great year for games.
