GTA 5 Liberty City DLC Could Have Been, But Rockstar Focused on GTA Online

Recent rumors have left fans of Rockstar Games feeling disappointed. The studio, known for its massive hits like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, has been quiet about the second official trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, and there are hints of a potential delay.

On top of this, a new rumor has surfaced that Rockstar canceled several highly anticipated projects, including a Liberty City single-player DLC for GTA V.

The Rumor: Canceled Projects for GTA Online

The rumor was shared by PuertoRock77 on Twitter on December 27, 2023, suggesting that Rockstar canceled several projects to focus its resources on supporting GTA Online.

According to the tweet, the canceled projects include:

    • GTA Tokyo
    • Bully 2
    • The Agent
    • 8 story DLCs for GTA V

These cancellations, if true, would mean that Rockstar chose to prioritize GTA Online over expanding its single-player games, much to the dismay of fans.

    Fans Express Their Disappointment

The news has caused an outpouring of disappointment across gaming communities. One user on r/TwoBestFriendsPlay said, “That’s a bummer,” while another expressed frustration over Rockstar’s decision to focus on GTA Online at the expense of single-player content.

Fans are especially heartbroken over the potential Liberty City DLC, with some wishing for a Red Dead Redemption 2 equivalent that could have added new locations like Mexico.

    Is It True?

While this rumor has not been confirmed by Rockstar, it has struck a chord with many fans who have long been hoping for more single-player content from the studio.

Rockstar’s focus on GTA Online in recent years has led some to feel that the studio has abandoned its roots in favor of the online multiplayer experience.

For now, this remains just a rumor, but it’s a reminder of the shifting priorities in the gaming industry, and fans are left wondering what could have been.
