Final Destination: Bloodlines Sets World Record with 71-Year-Old Stuntwoman on Fire

Final Destination: Bloodlines opens with a record-breaking scene. A 71-year-old stuntwoman, Yvette Ferguson, was set on fire for the movie’s first sequence, making her the oldest person ever to do a full-body burn on camera.

Ferguson came out of retirement to perform the dangerous stunt. She played Mrs. Fuller, a character who burns to death in a terrifying vision. Director Zach Lipovsky said they used real fire and confirmed the world record.

Actress Brec Bassinger, who plays Iris, said she was on set when it happened. “Everyone started clapping,” she said. “She was so pumped.” Ferguson later shared a photo from the scene on Instagram, thanking the stunt team for the opportunity.

Ferguson’s daughter, Becky Ferguson, also a stunt performer, praised her mother’s bravery in the comments. Co-director Adam Stein celebrated the record online, calling Yvette a “world record breaker.”

The film uses a tall building called Skyview Tower to add tension to the opening. Stein said the height and fear of falling make the scene even more intense, especially in IMAX.

Final Destination: Bloodlines releases in theaters on May 16, 2025.
