The Fear Street franchise returns with a brand-new standalone movie, Fear Street: Prom Queen, coming to Netflix in Summer 2025.
This adaptation of R.L. Stine’s 15th Fear Street book brings fans back to Shadyside for a blood-soaked tale centered around high school prom season.
The road to this new installment has been long, with rumors circulating since 2021. After the success of the trilogy, production of Prom Queen began in 2024 with Matt Palmer directing. The movie will not directly connect to the trilogy, making it a fresh story for fans.
Set in 1988, Prom Queen follows Lizzie McVay, a high school student who’s nominated for prom queen.
As her fellow nominees begin disappearing under brutal circumstances, Lizzie realizes someone is targeting the candidates. With her own life on the line, she must uncover the mystery before it’s too late.
Netflix has confirmed a talented young cast, including India Fowler, Ariana Greenblatt, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, and Chris Klein. Other notable names include Lili Taylor and Katherine Waterston.
Filming is set to wrap in Spring 2024 in Toronto, with production originally scheduled to end in May 2024.
The movie has an R-rating for “strong bloody violence and gore,” ensuring it stays true to the franchise’s horror roots.
While Prom Queen is a standalone feature, R.L. Stine hinted at further projects, potentially leading to another trilogy of films.
Fans of Fear Street can look forward to another terrifying installment this summer.
