Fan Theory Splits MCU’s Multiverse Saga into Two Timelines

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is currently in the midst of its Multiverse Saga, which spans Phases 4, 5, and 6.

This saga follows the Infinity Saga and focuses on the convergence of multiple realities, introducing new characters and world-altering threats. The Multiverse Saga began with “WandaVision” in 2021 and will conclude with “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027.

A new fan theory on Reddit, proposed by user u/OddlyCrazy, suggests that the Multiverse Saga can be divided into two separate plot threads. One thread includes the lower-stakes, street-level stories, while the other focuses on projects directly dealing with the Multiverse.

This theory proposes that the “grounded” projects could form their own mini-saga, while the actual Multiverse Saga would consist of fewer, more interconnected movies and shows.

The “grounded” projects include titles like “Black Widow,” “Hawkeye,” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” These stories focus on character development and day-to-day heroics without involving multiple realities.

On the other hand, the “Multiverse” projects include “Loki,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” These titles explore the concept of multiple realities and set the stage for grand multiversal events like “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”

This theory highlights a clear divide between the types of narratives in the Multiverse Saga. While each project contributes to the MCU’s larger narrative, some focus on the idea of innumerable realities, while others introduce new characters and highlight the everyday lives of heroes.

The theory also points out the reduced interconnectivity between projects in the Multiverse Saga compared to the Infinity Saga. Previously, each MCU movie introduced heroes that played pivotal roles in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” The Multiverse Saga’s approach involves more projects, including TV shows, which can make the storyline feel complex and distant.

If the Multiverse Saga were split into two, as the fan theory suggests, its interconnectivity would resemble the Infinity Saga more closely. This would offer a more straightforward story and consistency between projects.

The MCU is currently back in theaters with “Captain America: Brave New World,” and “Daredevil: Born Again” will premiere on Disney+ on March 4th.
