Fan-Made Half-Life Remake Black Mesa Hits Lowest Price Ever at $2

One of the best fan-made remakes in gaming history, Black Mesa, is currently on sale for just $2 on Steam—the lowest price ever for the modern reimagining of Valve’s original Half-Life. The deep discount is part of a 90% off sale celebrating the game’s 10th anniversary on Steam.

Although Black Mesa officially launched on Steam in 2015, its development stretches all the way back to 2005, when Crowbar Collective began the ambitious project of rebuilding the 1998 classic in the newer Source engine.

The first free version landed in 2012, but it wasn’t until March 2020 that the full experience—including the long-missing Xen levels—was released.

The current update doesn’t add new content but fixes bugs and improves performance, including better compatibility with Steam Deck, making now a great time to grab it—especially for just two bucks.

Meanwhile, Crowbar Collective is working on a brand-new title, Rogue Point, a tactical co-op FPS with roguelite elements. And as always, the Half-Life community is buzzing with renewed rumors of Half-Life 3, even five years after Valve’s last entry, Half-Life: Alyx.

If you’ve ever wanted to relive the Gordon Freeman saga with modern graphics, or experience it for the first time, $2 is an unbeatable price.
