Eddie Redmayne has confirmed that he will reprise his role as the enigmatic mercenary, the Jackal, for The Day of the Jackal Season 2.
The series, which was renewed last month, is a Sky and Peacock adaptation of the 1972 novel and 1973 film, where Redmayne’s character is pursued across Europe in a tense cat-and-mouse chase.
In a video message on Instagram, Redmayne teased fans, saying, โIf thereโs one thing that the Jackal canโt stand, itโs a loose end. So we will see you soon for Season 2.โ
The first season defied expectations with its unexpected finale, leaving plenty of room for more of Redmayneโs character.
Show producer Gareth Neame admitted he was initially reluctant to reboot the property but ultimately embraced the opportunity for business reasons.
Director Brian Kirk shared that the decision to alter the story’s outcome was part of the showโs vision from the start, adding that the characterโs popularity justified the renewal for a second season.
