Critics Praise ‘We Live In Time’ as ‘Irresistible’ Romantic Drama, Now on Netflix

The much-praised British drama We Live In Time has just arrived on Netflix, quickly becoming the top film on the streaming service in Ireland.

Starring Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh, the film follows the romantic journey of a couple over a decade. The story begins when Almut, a chef and former figure skater, accidentally hits Tobias, a recently divorced sales representative, with her car. What follows is an emotional exploration of their evolving relationship through different stages of life.

Directed by John Crowley, the film debuted in UK cinemas on 1 January 2025 and earned strong critical acclaim. It holds a 79% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics have praised the chemistry between Garfield and Pugh, with The Guardian calling the film “irresistible” and “a smart and sensitive crowd-pleaser.” The reviewer noted the “electric” chemistry between the two leads and their ability to blend comedy and drama naturally.

Speaking to Radio Times, Crowley said his confidence in the leads’ chemistry was based on instinct rather than science, but it clearly paid off on screen.

Alongside Garfield and Pugh, the cast includes Grace Delaney as their daughter Ella, Lee Braithwaite, Aoife Hinds, Adam James, and others.

We Live In Time is now available to stream on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
