Max has announced the renewal of Creature Commandos for a second season, following the show’s successful debut on December 5, 2024.
The adult animated series, created by James Gunn, marks the first title in the new DC Universe continuity.
With its unique mix of humor and action, Creature Commandos has quickly become a fan favorite, and its renewal comes midway through its first season, which consists of seven episodes.
The series, produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, follows a team of incarcerated monsters recruited for high-risk missions.
The voice cast for season one includes Steve Agee, Maria Bakalova, Anya Chalotra, and Viola Davis, who reprises her role as Amanda Waller from The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker.
James Gunn, who also serves as co-chairman of DC Studios, expressed his excitement about the renewal, saying, “We are thrilled to team up with Max for another season of Creature Commandos mayhem.”
He further praised the show’s success, adding that Max has consistently exceeded expectations with its programming, from Peacemaker to The Penguin.
Amy Gravitt, vice president of HBO and Max comedy programming, also shared her enthusiasm, stating, “Only James Gunn could have conjured this wild band of misfit monsters who tug at your heart and force you to root passionately for them.”
The show’s success is a testament to Gunn’s creative vision, as he continues to build the DC Universe.
Fans can look forward to more monster-filled adventures in the upcoming season, as the story of Creature Commandos unfolds.
Creature Commandos is just the beginning of the new era for DC Studios, and the upcoming release of Superman next summer will continue to expand the universe.
