Coldplay’s Chris Martin Asks Fans to ‘Send Love’ to Charlie Kirk’s Family After Shooting

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has asked fans to share love and compassion with people around the world, including the family of Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who was shot and killed last week in Utah.

Speaking at the band’s Wembley Stadium concert in London on Friday, Martin invited the crowd to raise their hands and “send love anywhere you want to send it in the world,” adding specifically, “You can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family. You can send it to anybody’s family. You can send it to people you disagree with, but you send them love anyway.”

Kirk, 31, was the founder of the right-wing group Turning Point USA. He was killed on September 10 during a debate at Utah Valley University. He is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two young children. Authorities announced on Friday that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the shooting.

Martin’s remarks came during the final stop of Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour, which ended in London on September 12.

Kirk had previously criticized the band, saying in July 2025 that he found Coldplay’s music “very hard to listen to” and that he would “rather be caught dead than be at a Coldplay concert.” Despite the criticism, Martin encouraged his audience to extend compassion even to those who disagreed with them.
