BTS members have revealed that V (Kim Taehyung) has become the strongest member of the group following their return from mandatory military service in South Korea.
During a Weverse live stream on July 15, RM and Jungkook acknowledged that V has surpassed them in physical strength after completing his military duty. The discussion emerged as the trio, who call themselves the “workout crew,” talked about their post-service fitness levels.
“Shocking news, Kim Taehyung is stronger than me now,” RM revealed during the live broadcast. Jungkook immediately agreed, saying “He’s stronger than me too.”
RM explained that V’s strength increase came from his military assignment to a special unit where he began weight training. “We mostly do bodyweight exercises, but Taehyung joined the special unit and started lifting weights. He’s bigger than us. We can’t even finish the sets he does now,” RM said.
The revelation surprised fans, as Jungkook has long been known for his dedicated fitness routine, while RM had notably bulked up before his enlistment. Both members admitted they have been “dethroned” by V’s newfound strength.
All seven BTS members have now completed South Korea’s mandatory military service, which typically lasts around 18 months. Jin was the first to enlist in December 2022, followed by J-Hope in April 2023. Jin completed his service in June 2024, while J-Hope returned in October 2024.
The remaining five members – RM, Suga, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – enlisted together in December 2023 and were discharged by June 2025.
The military service requirement has been a significant consideration for BTS, as South Korean men must complete their duty before age 30. The group’s return marks the end of a period during which they could not perform together as a complete unit.
With all members now back from service, fans are experiencing what many describe as the return of the group’s characteristic informal interactions and playful dynamics.
