Nicole Kidman’s new erotic thriller, Babygirl, is set to hit digital streaming this week. The film, which stars Kidman and Harris Dickinson, will be available for purchase or rental starting Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Babygirl, written and directed by Halina Reijn, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August 2024 before hitting theaters on December 25, 2024.
The movie tells the story of Romy, a CEO played by Kidman, who begins a dangerous affair with her younger intern, Samuel, portrayed by Dickinson. Antonio Banderas also stars as Romy’s husband, Jacob, and Sophie Wilde plays her assistant, Esme.
The film will be available on premium video on demand (PVOD) through platforms like Prime Video, AppleTV, and Fandango at Home. The digital purchase price is $24.99, with a rental option for $19.99 for a 48-hour period.
In a recent interview, Kidman explained why she was drawn to the film’s story. She said, “A lot of times women are discarded at a certain period of their career as a sexual being. So, it was really beautiful to be seen in this way.” She added that her character’s journey of power and self-discovery resonated with her.
Babygirl has earned $36 million worldwide at the box office, with a production budget of $20 million. The film holds a 76% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes from critics, though audience reviews are more mixed, with a 48% “rotten” rating.
The movie is rated R and will be available for digital streaming on January 28.
