Ubisoft has announced details about the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, titled “Claws of Awaji”, offering fans a glimmer of hope amid news of the game’s delay to March 20, 2025.

    What’s in the DLC?

According to details briefly visible on the game’s Steam page before being removed, “Claws of Awaji” will include:

    • 10+ hours of gameplay
    • A new region, likely Awaji Island
    • A new weapon type, along with additional gear, skills, and abilities

Players who pre-order the game may also gain exclusive access to this expansion, although Ubisoft has yet to confirm if the DLC will eventually be available to all players.

A Welcome Distraction From Ubisoft’s Troubles

The announcement comes as Ubisoft faces mounting challenges. The delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks another setback in the franchise’s timeline, as the company aims to polish the game for launch.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft is undergoing cost-reduction measures and exploring potential sale options, raising concerns about the future of the Assassin’s Creed series.

Despite these issues, the promise of expansive DLC like “Claws of Awaji” could reignite excitement among fans.

    Fan Expectations

Ubisoft has received criticism in the past for tying DLC content to pre-orders, and the removed Steam description suggests the company might be rethinking its approach.

Fans are hopeful that the new content will live up to the high standards of the series, especially given Ubisoft’s recent struggles with unsuccessful launches.

While delays and corporate challenges cloud the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the “Claws of Awaji” DLC offers a reason for fans to stay optimistic.

With over 10 hours of new content and the promise of fresh gameplay mechanics, Ubisoft has an opportunity to make a strong comeback.
