Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme has delivered a major holiday win for A24, earning an estimated $30–35 million over the four-day Christmas period. The film has already become the studio’s biggest wide-release opening to date, far exceeding early projections.

The Timothée Chalamet-led drama opened strongly on Christmas Eve and surged on Christmas Day, according to industry estimates. Analysts say the film is posting some of the highest per-screen averages of the holiday season, despite competition from major franchise releases.

Marty Supreme is inspired by the life of real-world table tennis hustler Marty Reisman and follows a fast-rising prodigy navigating ambition, deception, and fame in 1950s New York. The cast includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, and Tyler, the Creator.

The film has also received strong critical praise. It currently holds a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 89 rating on Metacritic, with critics highlighting Chalamet’s performance and Safdie’s tense, high-energy direction.

Audience response has been largely positive, though some viewers described the film’s pace as intense. Social media discussion surged over the Christmas holiday, helping boost word-of-mouth momentum.

Industry watchers say Marty Supreme could become one of A24’s most successful releases ever, both commercially and critically. With awards buzz building and strong holiday turnout, the film is expected to remain a box office force into the new year.
