Despite its 28% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Act of Valor (2012) has earned high praise from military experts for its realism, particularly in a key scene involving a Navy SEAL sacrificing himself to save his team by jumping on a grenade.

Former Green Beret David Harris analyzed this moment and compared it to his real-life experience in Iraq.

He praised the film for accurately portraying the selflessness and sacrifice of soldiers, scoring it a 9 out of 10.

While the movie’s lackluster performances by non-actors and clichéd story hurt its reception, Act of Valor stands out for its commitment to realism, especially in depicting military operations.
