Marvel Studios is reducing its movie output following Phase 5, with Kevin Feige confirming plans to release approximately two films and three series annually. This marks a significant shift from the studio’s previous high-volume approach during 2021-2023.
In 2024, Marvel had only one theatrical release (Deadpool & Wolverine) compared to the previous years’ multiple films. However, 2025 will see an increased slate, including Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Feige highlighted the massive scale of upcoming Avengers films (Doomsday and Secret Wars) as a primary reason for the reduced output. The studio currently has confirmed releases for Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Avengers: Secret Wars through 2027.
Other projects like Blade, Shang-Chi 2, and Armor Wars remain in development without set release dates. Despite the scaled-back approach, Marvel remains committed to maintaining its cinematic universe’s momentum.
The next MCU release will be What If…? Season 3 on Disney+ in December, followed by Captain America: Brave New World in February 2025.
