YouTube Music May Ditch Song/Video Switcher for a New UI

YouTube Music is testing a change that could remove the Song/Video switcher from the top of the Now Playing screen, shifting it to the action carousel instead.

Originally introduced in 2019, this switcher allowed Premium users to seamlessly toggle between a song’s audio and its music video. The feature highlighted YouTube Music’s connection to the main YouTube platform.

Now, instead of a pill-shaped toggle at the top, users may find a “Video” button alongside Thumbs Up/Down, Comments, and Save. This shift could push the Share option off the visible screen.

Interestingly, YouTube Music isn’t repurposing the freed-up space, leaving the Cast button looking isolated in the corner.

This change comes alongside a Now Playing redesign, which moves playback controls closer to the bottom for easier one-handed use. While some users have received this UI update, it has yet to roll out widely.

If implemented, this adjustment could streamline the interface—but some users may miss the quick-switching convenience of the old toggle.
