Xiaomi has officially launched the Mi Box 5 and Mi Box 5 Max in China, bringing two new smart home products that aim to upgrade your TV viewing experience. These devices support up to 4K resolution and are compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for enhanced visuals and sound.

    Key Features

Both models feature the latest AI image enhancement technology, which improves the quality of content, making it clearer and sharper. For sound, the Mi Box 5 and Mi Box 5 Max support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, delivering a cinematic audio experience at home. The devices also come with Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 for seamless connectivity.

An exciting addition is the Xiaomi HyperOS, which allows users to integrate the TV boxes with other Xiaomi smart home products. The inclusion of Xiao AI voice assistant offers added convenience, enabling users to get help with tasks like trip planning or workout suggestions. Another handy feature is the NFC tap-to-screen share, making it easy to share content from your phone to the TV.

    Model Differences

While both boxes have the same quad-core A55 processor and Mali-G310 V2 CPU, the difference lies in their storage capacity:

    • Mi Box 5: 2GB RAM and 32GB storage
    • Mi Box 5 Max: 4GB RAM and 64GB storage

Both models are compact, measuring 97 x 97.1 x 17 mm (~3.8 x 3.8 x 0.67 inches), and offer connectivity through HDMI and USB 2.0 ports alongside the power input.

    Pricing and Availability

The Mi Box 5 is priced at CNY 299 ($41), while the Mi Box 5 Max is available for CNY 499 ($69). Currently, these devices are available in China, with no confirmed date for international availability. For comparison, the Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen is available in Europe for around €69.90.
