WhatsApp is taking another step toward becoming a full-fledged productivity tool by introducing event scheduling in private chats. Previously, this feature was only available in group chats and communities, but it is now rolling out to select beta testers on Android.

How the Feature Works

With this new addition, users can:

  • Schedule and manage events directly within one-on-one chats.
  • Set reminders for personal and professional commitments.
  • Link events to WhatsApp video or voice calls.
  • Invite contacts, who can accept or decline the event.

For example, if you have a deadline with a colleague, you can create an event in your chat, ensuring that both of you receive reminders at the same time.

When Will It Roll Out?

Since this is still in beta testing, it may take weeks or even months before a full rollout.

However, its arrival in beta suggests that WhatsApp is committed to expanding its event management features, potentially competing with tools like Google Calendar.

Would you use WhatsApp for scheduling, or do you prefer traditional calendar apps?
