Troll 2, the sequel to Netflix’s biggest non-English movie, will arrive globally in fall 2025. Netflix has released a first-look clip, teasing what’s next.
Troll’s Success and the Sequel Announcement
The original Troll, released in December 2022, became Netflix’s most-watched non-English movie. It gained 178.6 million watch hours in its first 91 days. Despite competition from other international hits like Under Paris, it remains at the top.
In September 2023, Netflix confirmed Troll 2. Director Roar Uthaug returns alongside writer Espen Aukan and producers Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud. Production began in 2024, and Netflix confirmed at its November 2024 showcase that the movie would be ready for fall 2025.
Who’s Returning?
Several cast members will reprise their roles, including Sara Khorami, Jon Ketil Johnsen, Gard B. Eidsvold, Kim S. Falck-Jorgensen, Aksel Almaas, and Trond Magnum.
What Will Happen in Troll 2?
At the end of Troll, the Norwegian military trapped and destroyed the awakened troll using sunlight. However, before the credits rolled, a mysterious roar came from inside Dovre Mountain’s cave. The sequel will explore whether more trolls exist and what happens next.
