The Problem with Beast Games: What It Teaches Kids About Money

Beast Games by MrBeast

MrBeast’s Beast Games on Amazon Prime Video, which debuted on December 19, 2024, is a family-friendly reality competition show with a hefty $5 million prize.

However, for parents, there’s an uncomfortable message about money that could be concerning for younger viewers.

The Premise of Beast Games

The show starts with MrBeast standing on a pyramid of cash, emphasizing the enormous $5 million prize. Throughout the first episode, money is portrayed as an easy-come, easy-go object, with contestants playing psychological games to win the cash.

In one challenge, participants are asked to sacrifice themselves for the good of the group or risk losing everything.

The concept of money is treated as a game, which may not align with the values many parents want to teach their children, such as the importance of hard work, saving, and budgeting.

The Message for Young Viewers

As a parent, the show’s focus on money as the primary goal of the games could send a troubling message to young viewers. Money is tossed around casually, without any real consequences, making it seem like an easy way to achieve success.

For kids, this could blur the lines between entertainment and reality, making them believe that money is something that can be won effortlessly, rather than earned through hard work and responsibility.

While Beast Games is entertaining for adults, it may not be the best show for teaching children about the true value of money.

The show’s exaggerated portrayal of wealth and the psychological challenges involving money could confuse younger audiences about the importance of financial literacy and the real-world implications of money.
