Tencent has acquired a 51.4% controlling stake in Kuro Games, the developer behind Wuthering Waves.

This was achieved by purchasing approximately 37% of Kuro Games’ shares from Hero Entertainment, making Tencent the company’s sole external shareholder.

In an internal memo, Kuro Games assured that despite Tencent’s majority ownership, the company will maintain independent operations.

Tencent reportedly plans to apply the same hands-off approach it uses with subsidiaries like Riot Games and Supercell.

Kuro Games stated that this partnership aims to create a stable external environment and support its long-term independent strategy.

Further details about how this acquisition might influence future projects remain undisclosed.
