Superman Teaser Faces Backlash Over ‘Goofy’ Flying Shot

DC — Superman

A new teaser for the upcoming Superman movie has sparked debate among fans, particularly over a brief flying scene that many are calling “goofy.”

In the final seconds of the 30-second teaser, David Corenswet’s Superman zooms through an icy landscape, followed by a close-up of his face mid-flight. While the teaser promotes hope and optimism, the flying scene has left many viewers disappointed.

The shot has drawn comparisons to other recent superhero films, such as Black Adam and Guardians of the Galaxy 3, where similar face-on flying shots have been criticized for their awkward framing.

Fans took to social media to express their dissatisfaction, with some describing the scene as a “downgrade” from previous Superman films, particularly Henry Cavill’s high-speed flight in Man of Steel (2013).

One fan tweeted, “Seriously, what is up with these weird face-on lens distortion flying shots? There are so many cooler ways to visualize flying, just look at Man of Steel.” Another added, “The downgrade is insane.”

However, not everyone is bothered by the moment. Some fans defended the shot, calling it “fine” and “pretty much the kind of flying motion I was hoping for.”

Superman, starring David Corenswet, is set to release on July 11, 2025, as part of the new DCU Chapter One, under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
