Director James Gunn has given fans a sneak peek of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman film, celebrating the villain’s 85th anniversary.

Gunn shared the exclusive image on social media, showcasing Hoult in a sharp suit with an intense gaze, hinting at the character’s menacing nature.

Lex Luthor, who first appeared in Action Comics #23 in 1940, has evolved from a megalomaniacal scientist to a cunning billionaire industrialist.

Known for his vendetta against Superman, Luthor views the hero as a threat to humanity. Despite his criminal actions, he sees himself as a savior, occasionally taking on an antihero role.

Nicholas Hoult steps into the role of Luthor, following notable portrayals by Gene Hackman, Michael Rosenbaum, and Jesse Eisenberg.

Hoult expressed excitement about the role, praising Gunn’s script for its brilliant depiction of Luthor. He aims to bring the character to life in a way that honors its rich history.

Superman is set to hit theaters on July 11, 2025, and fans eagerly await this fresh take on the iconic rivalry between Superman and Lex Luthor.
