Stardew Valley fans now have a magical reason to return to the farm: a new fan-made mod brings beloved Studio Ghibli creatures into the game—for free.
Ghibli Meets the Valley
Created by modder Xan, the “Catchable Ghibli Creatures” expansion is a beautiful crossover that feels like it was meant to be. Stardew Valley has always shared Ghibli’s cozy charm, soft colors, and love for nature. Now, that connection is even stronger.
This mod is built on the “Nature in the Valley” framework, which introduces a creature-catching mechanic similar to Animal Crossing.
What’s in the Mod?
You can now find and catch nine Ghibli creatures, including:
- Totoro creatures (My Neighbor Totoro)
- Kodama (Princess Mononoke)
- No Face and Soot Sprites (Spirited Away)
- The Gray Heron and Warawara (The Boy and the Heron)
- Jiji (Kiki’s Delivery Service)
Each creature has its own animations, behaviors, and unique spawning conditions. Some appear only in specific seasons or areas, so players are encouraged to explore and be patient.
Once caught, these whimsical beings can be placed in a terrarium or donated to the museum, adding new life to your in-game adventures.
How to Get It
The expansion is available now and can be downloaded for free on NexusMods. It requires the “Nature in the Valley” mod to run.
