Six Years After Release, Red Dead Redemption 2 Breaks Records on Steam

Red Dead Redemption 2 has set a new record on Steam, reaching 86,717 concurrent players on January 26, 2025. This milestone comes nearly six years after the game’s PC launch in 2019.

The boost is attributed to an ongoing Steam sale, where the game is available for $14.99—a 75% discount. The sale, which includes other Rockstar titles, runs until February 6, 2025.

This isn’t the first time a price drop has spiked the game’s popularity. In November 2023, a similar sale brought the player count to 77,655, the previous peak.

Red Dead Redemption 2 remains one of Rockstar Games‘ most celebrated titles, praised for its storytelling, open-world design, and attention to detail.

Despite its age, the game continues to sell well, contributing to Rockstar’s strong performance as fans await the release of GTA 6.
