The Cadillac F1 Team made its debut at Silverstone on Thursday, marking the first shakedown of the highly anticipated American-backed outfit. The car, powered by a Ferrari V6 hybrid, ran under the 2026 sustainable technical regulations.

The session focused on systems checks and integration, rather than speed. Minor software glitches caused a brief delay, but the team successfully completed the program, giving fans their first look at Cadillac’s challenger.

Sergio Pérez was the first driver to take the wheel, leaving his previous team to join Cadillac. “To be the first person to turn a wheel for this project is incredibly emotional,” Pérez said. “It’s fired me up for the long road ahead.”

Supporting Pérez were Valtteri Bottas, bringing technical experience from Mercedes and Sauber, and Zhou Guanyu, who serves as reserve driver and helps with car development.

Cadillac is currently using Ferrari’s hybrid engine technology as part of a strategic partnership, while planning to develop its own power unit in the future. This allows the team to focus on aerodynamics and chassis performance while benefiting from Ferrari’s expertise in hybrid systems and sustainable fuels.

The shakedown was a success, showing a solid foundation for Cadillac’s first F1 season. The team now moves into a rigorous winter testing schedule to refine the car before the 2026 season opener.
