Samsung is expected to reveal its first smart glasses, tentatively called Galaxy Glasses, at the Galaxy Unpacked event in January 2025.

The event will also showcase the new Galaxy S25 smartphones. This marks Samsung’s entry into the growing augmented reality (AR) market.

What to Expect from Galaxy Glasses

The Galaxy Glasses will be lightweight, weighing about 50 grams, and designed to look like regular sunglasses. Unlike bulky AR headsets, these glasses aim for simplicity and practicality, much like Ray-Ban Meta glasses.

Samsung wants to seamlessly integrate AR into daily life through features like real-time notifications, contextual overlays, and hands-free controls.

    Collaboration with Google and Qualcomm

Samsung has teamed up with Google and Qualcomm to develop these glasses. Google is building a software platform for the glasses, while Qualcomm provides a chip optimized for AR. The product is expected to hit the market by the third quarter of 2025.

    Key Features

The glasses might include gesture and facial recognition, AI-powered notifications, and Google Wallet integration for payments. These features could make Galaxy Glasses a practical and innovative tool for everyday use.

    A Competitive Market

Samsung joins the growing wearable tech market, already populated by devices like Ray-Ban Meta glasses. By focusing on AR rather than immersive virtual reality, Samsung aims to appeal to consumers seeking lightweight, connected devices.

The Galaxy Glasses could set a new trend in wearable technology, bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds.
